Industrial Engineer

The Industrial Engineer works in a manufacturing, process, or service industry, and is responsible for the design and arrangement of the plant and equipment in order to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. The Industrial Engineer is concerned with the ways in which people, information, materials and products interact with and move through the plant, and works with a team to design manufacturing equipment, materials handling equipment and plant layout which are ergonomically correct in order accomplish these goals.

Most industrial engineers have a four-year college degrees. While many and industrial engineering degrees, other have a background in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering or production or operations research. Math, sciences, and communication skills are vitally important.
